The Poem and the Time

Chaos and time
form an alliance
of disruption.

The words follow
and arrange
and heal
and organize,
comfort

About this poem

Written after I had realised the healing power of poetry and discoverd the perfect meaninglessness of the time.

In light of your ‘about this poem’, how do the following notes I jotted down about it line up with your vision while writing it? Please, if you will. Below are those notes:

Incredible poem and powerful considering it brevity.

The first stanza introduces the muck within which we find ourselves, a sort of war waged on us by Chaos and Time which has us in a state of dissolution.

The second stanza shows how poetry can bring order and healing and peace to our lives as it transforms the aforementioned disruption.

The poem, in some sense, reminds me of the opening verses of Genesis (where Chaos reigns until the arrival of Light):

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”

Redemptive aspect of the second stanza reminds me of something in Socrates one said (I believe this was in “The Republic”):

“The philosopher, holding converse with the divine order, becomes orderly and divine …”

I love the brevity of it but it has a deep meaning in few words.
