This nightmare

Jazmen Miller 2002 (Indianapolis)

Wake up
You are worth something
Wake up
Mama and papa aren't dead
Wake up
Your boyfriend actually loves you
Wake up
He never once abused his wife or kids
Wake up
They never chose drugs and parties over you
Wake up
You can make something of yourself
Wake up
Your cat never died
Wake up
Nobody affected your mental health
Wake up
You don't have to walk on eggshells around people
Wake up
You don't have to care what others think
Wake up
Your sister will be ok
Wake up
You don't have to bottle up your feelings
Wake up
You don't know what a cheater is
Wake up
You don't know what depression and anxiety are
Wake up
You don't want to end your life
Wake up
Your not fucked up in the head
Wake up
You can make something of yourself
Wake up
You don't know what self harm is
Wake up
You don't have scars all over your body
Wake up
You never got traded for drugs
Wake up
You don't have anger issues
Wake up
You are not useless
Wake up
You are not a disappointment
Wake up
Your not ugly
Wake up
You dont need to give in to addiction to be happy
Wake up
You have life skills
Wake up
Yours and his dog didn't pass away
Wake up
Death isn't the end
Wake up
Your not mentally ill
Wake up
Your not a bad person
Wake up
Your gonna be a good mom someday
Wake up
He isn't going to leave you
Wake up
You aren't a let down
Wake up
Your mind isn't a prison
Wake up
You don't need medication to be happy
Wake up
You are happy
Wake up
You don't need to question reality
Wake up
You are worth living
Wake up
Your family needs you
Wake up
You don't have trust issues
Wake up
You know how to express your feelings correctly
Wake up
You are not alone in life
Wake up
You are capable of escaping this feeling
Wake up
You aren't ready to give up
Wake up
You aren't a failure
Wake up
Someone always has it worse than you
Wake up
Nobody hates you
Wake up
Life is great
Wake up
You don't need money to feel worth something
Wake up
You aren't going to mess this relationship up
Wake up
There is so much more
Wake up
Your mind had truma blocked it
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

About this poem

I wrote this poem at a time where things were not going to good and I just needed to get everything off my mind and chest, I wrote it trying to convince myself that life is a bad dream that I need to wake up from.
