The Will of the Worm
The Will of the Worm
Written by Lori A. Powell
A worm has no arms and no legs.
In case of danger he cannot run away.
No eyes to see, no ears to hear.
So he cannot tell when predators are near
no teeth to bite, no mouth to shout,
there is so much that the worm lives without
Deprived yet unselfish
Defenseless yet not defeated
So they use their head to dig into the dirt.
They go underground where they won’t get hurt.
The natural instinct of the will to live
is to use the elements of the environment
The worm lives under the ground
bcz there he is safe and cannot be found
He has no defense to fightf for survival
no shield to protect himself from a rival
He has no tools to dig with
But he did use his head to find a way to live.
About this poem
We are given so many abilities to aid in our survival in this world. It’s hard to imagine how we could ever live without them. When I look at the worm, I’m reminded of the gratefulness of having so many abilities and not to take them for granted.
