Whispers in the Moonlight

We shared the same square space
you and me.
That box we called our home.
Our safe space,
our sanctuary,
where whispered secrets
were shared
across the moonlit ceiling
we called home.

We shared that same square space
you and me.
For years we were best friends,
and worst enemies.
Love and hate
entwined to create
the most unbreakable bond.

Whispers in the moonlight.
Comfort and care
shared in the hardest of times.
And the best of times.
Whispers in the moonlight,
those stolen moments,
those shared secrets
never to leave the room.

Whispers in the moonlight
will always be our bond.

We shared that same square space
you and me.
Forever bound together.
In sisterly love,
in sisterly bond.
You and me.
Forever entwined.

About this poem

This poem was written after my sister suffered a serious stroke. It is a reflection on the sisterly bond we shared growing up.
