This is today, what is tomorrow?

Cacophony of sounds,
Myriad of colors,
Gloss and glamour,
Technology steaming ahead,
Influencers "experts" abound,
Politicians preaching the “truth”,
AI hiding in the shadows,
Ambition overcoming humility,
This is “civilization”,

Beneath the shiny exterior,
Silence of the suffering,
Tears of the children,
Tragedy of war,
This is “reality”,

Simplicity and honesty,
Laughter and joy,
Moral compass pointing to our hearts,
This is the civilization we need,
To achieve the holy grail,
Of peace and harmony.

About this poem

This poem is about how we define civilization which is centred of riches, gadgets and people's ambitions rather than true civilization of honesty, humility and harmony, there is no point having the latest technology if you cannot connect at a base level of kindness with your fellow human.
