the purple pumpkin

No one could understand why this pumpkin was purple.  All pumpkins are orange. Not this pumpkin, it was bright purple.  

It was considered an outsider and no one liked it because it was purple. It wasn't its fault, it just grew that way.

It was a sad pumpkin.  It wanted to be orange like the rest of the pumpkins.

Along came a nice boy. He liked the purple pumpkin because it was different. This young boy was different too.

This kid had a limp. Other children make fun of him, so the little boy made up a dream world.  

He'd make believe he could play like others and do things he couldn't do, because of his bad leg.

Time moved on. The boy became an adult and he walked with a cane. He had taken care of his special purple pumpkin, so it would be as fresh as the day it was picked.

Also he was smart because he had read all those years as a child because he couldn't play.

And because he read he could figure out many things that others could not. With his limp and cane he also became quite distinguished and many girls liked him.

The purple pumpkin had become very popular too because it was so different.

And everyone realized it was almost impossible to grow another purple pumpkin.

So it goes to show, that things of nature, like the pumpkin or a boy can be so different, are really special and not something to treat badly!
