Poor Soul

Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)

Clipped your own wings
so the world could fly
muted your own voice
to bestow the gift of laughter

Stopped beats of your own heart
keeping wounded beats alive
sacrificing one’s sanity
to preserve the unhinged

Grateful to your legacy
no matter how undeserved
my preservation is

Thank You
for such memories

About this poem

This is for all who have lost loved ones way too soon. Ending ones own life, as much as I understand. Is still such a heartbreak for those around them. Even I have fallen victim to the deathbed too many times to count but thankfully I can say now, I’m glad it didn’t work. So I’m deeply sorry for you who feel that way, and I am deeply Sorry for you who have lost that way.

I love to express myself through poetry. I can’t force inspiration so I only write when I feel moved. Authenticity is important to me!! If I can make anyone feel heard and understood, Then my goal is accomplished. more…
