Paralysis
Cas Wilson 1999 (United States)
There is a being that emerged
from the cavity in my chest,
a blackened broken thing
whose bones poked through skin
as it birthed it's dying wails,
crawling across my ceiling.
I breathed in and told myself
to be not be afraid,
and confronted it,
stroking that scarred blackened skin
to only find coal dust.
I rammed a protruding diamond rib
into my heart
and ate my darkness.
