Fables
Amber Abbott 1986 (United States)
I spoke fables in my mind.
Swollen with pain that needed to be compressed.
My body tingled everywhere before the numbness set in.
I watched your lips move while I heard nothing.
The deafening of a fictional love.
Before I knew what I needed, the myth revealed himself.
Sweet fantasies danced in my mind while my hand was free.
You saw the green in my eyes.
My rebirth was taking place.
I surrendered to the fable.
The dream I was walking in, I ended.
It was just a dream.
I forgave my transgressions against myself.
I gave up to reality and the place that was made for me.
About this poem
I was going through a divorce at this time. I felt alone and scared.
