What did I do before?

Alicia Emily day 2006 (Derbyshire)

What did I do before?
Before I took a breath, before my last death?
What did I do before this life, to give me this misery?
you see, I must have committed crimes unforgivable, am I really capable?
Was I capable? Do I deserve this, did I bring it on myself to live in this black sea?
Suffocating, interrogating, infuriating me? sometimes I see, maybe this was me? The monster was set free.
Too worn down to let the monster out now.
This is my punishment.
Karmas kiss
I do deserve the dark abyss.
I did this.

About this poem

Throughout my life I’ve always wondered why I’ve been so unlucky in health, friendships, family and in general. I’ve wondered if my life is a punishment for something I’ve done in my past, or a past life. This poem is a way of putting those emotions into words and allowing the reader to possibly relate.

Alicia Emily day

I’m Alicia, I’ve battled illness all my life, I often feel like I was doomed to be unlucky from the day I was born. I write poems as a way to create something beautiful and understandable out of the pain I’ve experienced in my life. Although my writing can be sorrowful, the sadness I express in them is such a small part of my life, I believe poetry is a way of healing my soul and putting my pain to rest. more…
