The donut shop.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The donut shop.

I'm driving by the donut shop and want to pull in. But I know in my mind that it would be committing a sin. I won't cry, and I won't beg. But my lips and tongue crave the sweet sugar of a donut. Your sweet lips on mine can't compare to that donut on my mind. Maybe one little bite would set me free. But if I did, I know the ambulance would be here for me. Like a heroin addict, needs a fix. I need that sweet donut on my lips. I know if I slip up and take that bite. It's just not right. So I drive on by and say goodbye until next time.

About this poem
