A Place I Cannot Reach

Here on this ledge,
A moment to myself.
Where I want to be
Is quite a distance away,
A place I cannot reach.

Temptation taking hold of me.
One more step,
And these waves will get the whole of me.

Here on this ledge,
Searching for something;
Yet I’m too petrified to take such a leap.
A labyrinth of regrets lie underneath,
It’s too late to find the exit.

This obsession is taking its toll.
So many crevices in these open spaces.
Why am I just standing here?

If only I could disappear;
Find another bed and call it home.
This is all too much to bare.
Here on this ledge,
I still see a place I cannot reach.
