The Trouble With People

Many people in this life, just go on living.
Grasping on to pot of gold, instead of giving.
They don’t help and they don’t share,
for it seems they just don’t care.
Rather hang on to a grudge, than be forgiving.

We should take a deeper look and search within.
Is our purpose in this life, merely to win?
Do we stop and lend a hand?
Do we try to understand
that a white lie that we tell, is still a sin?

On another, do we step on to reach fame?
Have we severed roots of tree from which we came?
Time for actions to review.
May not be too late for you.
Keep in mind that when we die, we’re all the same.

About this poem

Sometimes we may get blinded by our goals in life and don’t see what truly matters.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…
