grandma’s dream
Grandmom’s Dream
She was sassy, a bit brassy, but never Passé.
She dreamed of a better world for her family At five in the morning, she bowed the knee. Praying we would all learn the success key.
For her, it was education you see.
A grand lady to see, was Lucinda.
Never an idle word would she render.
“Study”, she would say, “work hard.”
Someday it will all pay off, Laziness she bard And O’ Lord, she did she work hard.
She had three businesses and 14 children to tend to.
It was the only way to change the future fo’ you.
She washed clothes, helped picked cotton, and ran the pig farm.
Used the money to send kids to Catholic School with calm.
Yes, Cindy was a Creole mother of ole.
Lord, I thank You for her beautiful sole.
Education was not just for her children, I must mention.
She influenced many of my decisions.
With her witty sayings and old time Religion. Made sure to church we went and gave God His attention.
She was proud of my accomplishments I must say.
I am glad that on my Graduation Day. Grandmom! dressed up and found her way. To the ceremony to celebrate with me, OK!
And she hoped to the workforce, I went for pay. And experienced the dream that she had many a’years prayed.
