Phoebus’ Kiss
Robert Rowe 1967 (Agana, Guam)
Pale ruby aura pure as a virgin’s first blush
Silhouettes Mother’s majestic crown dusted white,
While glowing cotton embers of fiery crimson
Continue their dreams now slowly drifting; warmed by
Phoebus, his brightening face beaming down fondly
Daring an impish peek at slumbering Mother.
Torrents of phantom flames pour forth like liquid fire
As the night’s diamonds, capturing the rubric light
Cast a rainbow of flame over Mother’s waking form.
Illusory dance slowly advancing westward
As if guided by a gentle nurturing wind
Until Phoebus wakes Mother with his tender kiss.
