IF I TOLD YOU ONCE

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

IF I TOLD YOU ONCE...

If I told you once, I've told you a thousand times
We're each guilty, committed our own crimes
Each of us has gone astray. Lost on our own way
In darkness, longing for Day, we need to pray
And the Shepherd will hear us, and heal us
For we were lost, now we belong to Jesus

If I told you once, I've told you over and over again
We can't do it all alone, and the devil ain't our friend
We're  all captured in our sin, it's a battle we can't win
We're waiting for our hope to begin, just let Him in
And the Lamb that dies for us, comes and revives us
For we were lost, now we belong to Jesus

And words can't convey, all I long to say
As I watch you walk away, I hit my knees to pray
Oh Spirit touch them now, I plea
Oh Spirit speak through me

If I told you once, I'll  tell you this once more
Jesus is the Truth, the Way, the Door
You're lost in a crowd,  silently screaming aloud
The darkness a shroud, falling before the proud
But King calls to to you, speaks and you see it too
For you were lost, Jesus ransomed you

If I told you once...maybe you'd be beside me
If I spoke, perhaps you'd be free
Father forgive my lack of words
If I told you once, and if you heard
AmenI

About this poem

The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, speak to your people and say to them: ‘When bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not heed the warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their blood will be on their own head. Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’ Ezekiel 33 1-6
