Without You

I seem to never sleep on the first night after you leave…
Is it because I can’t sleep without you? Without feeling the warmth of your body next to
or touching mine?
Or is it because I’m afraid if I sleep even one minute without you,
I might miss something,
Or worse…
Because I’m afraid you might get comfortable there and stay?
Somewhere, anywhere,
Without me???
I find myself wondering….
With just one look;
No one has ever looked at me like that.
Not that way.
A look I’ve never seen before-
Silly me,
…..feen
for.
That look…
It holds more,
Carries more,
More than I could ever dream…
Of all the emotions that take over me… Controls me…
To feel.
     to feel something,
new.
It’s light,
Compared to all the weight
That came with the rest,
Leaving me to tend to the, now mess.
Yet it’s strong.
As if to assure me,
those arms won’t quiver,
those hands holding mine
are NOT
shaking.
They are hands of the Calm.
The healing….
Calmness.
But not to be confused with
Careless.
These hands tell a story…
A story that has only just begun…
At last.

About this poem

In a journey of self-discovery and leaving no room for time-wasted, there's always something that has to come across our path. Could it be reigniting an old flame, or drawn to what feels comfortable, a misleading toxic cycle?
