FALL OF WAR

FALL OF WAR

A whistle past your head
An inch from being dead
A shell blasts the world apart
A fire burning from the start
This is the fall of war
Behold God knocks at the Door

In the foxhole soldiers pray
As the world gets blown away
The enemy's name doesn't matter
The whole world will shatter
Here in  the fall of war
See, our God is at the Door

The Smoke chokes out the sky
As our soldiers start to die
Fight on, soldier, fight on
For darkness finds the dawn
The world sees the fall of war
For our God is at the Door

Death, is the only rest
Found in a soldier's test
As friends fall on every side
And all your tears are cried
For we witness the fall of war
As our God is at the door

Tell me do you know why
It's a victory for us to die?
We stand here in your place
 God Grant us Your Grace
As we bring the Fall of war
Oh God, Open up that door!

Smoke on the quiet morning
Death and the cries of mourning
Soldier's guns lay forgotten in mud
As rain washed  away the blood
Is peace the fall of war?
As God shuts again the Door

About this poem

Fall of war. Is it peace, or the absence of war? Of strife? Or is it the absence of life? When we walk through the door into eternity? I'm not sure. Even after writing this
