TEARING US APART

TEARING US APART

When darkness fell, curtains the land
As the innocent die, we can't understand
How can the enemy roll through so fast
All defenses shatter just like glass
Are You there God, are you there?
Is asked aloud in a desperate prayer

Dreams crumble, from pedestals high
Mountains fall, and shatter the sky
Judgment falls, all around mankind runs
Explosions batter from the mouths of guns
Dead youth, and children break our hearts
Don't you know, judgment is yet to start

I stand in the mountains seeing death below
Watch as fountains bleed, and fires grow
Do we care about the pain we all cause
Head long into destruction we don't pause
A world insane, confusion reigns supreme
Are you there God? Different religions scream

As if in answer, the Sign of God appears
A terrified world cries aloud in its fears
Cry out for their rights, their sin, their hate
But not in repentance which seals the fate
They called, He answered, they cry
Even in judgment will they dare defy

This world, it was created for Light
This darkness, we prefered the night
As we die, as we fight, as we kill
We yearn for that light still
But the darkness held in our heart
Is tearing us all apart
AMEN

About this poem

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. John 3:19
