TOLLING STORM

TOLLING STORM

Don't listen as the bell toll
Don't flinch as the thunder rolls
Don't worry over what you can't see
Don't listen to the lying powers that be

All this world is a babble of lies
The pain of a multitude of cries
We just live one day at a time
The mountains rising as we climb

You cry, it's the end of your road
That there's no hope, or living code
And Death tolls ever closer today
With fears too great to ever slay

This path, paved by Destiny
By the Creator of the best in me
He alone knows the Journey’s end
Me– I can't even see round the bend

Yeah, yeah this road sure is hard
Too often we find the way is barred
But all barriers were broken by the nail
Which tore down the darkness of Hell

The heart of affliction beats deep within
Trapping us, deceiving us in our sin
Yet the Elect are chosen because we chose
To follow our Lord, wherever He goes

As I walk in the desert's burning heat
I face my fears, I shall bravely meet
See my Lord, He leads the way
Paving the road for my Journey's stay

So we can follow, no doubt, no fear
The Thunder rolls as our Lord is near
And the clouds roll up, and then they fade
There we stand, sealed and unafraid.

Pay no heed at the Thunder's roll
Care not if the bell starts to toll
We are strong on the road He set
All our trials, well all forget.

So come death! Let's see thy sting!
I'll not fear the Bells rolling ring!
Come storms of life, I'll not fear again!
My strength is a Faith without end!

I whisper in the tolling of the bell
At death's very door I laugh as well
If I die the storms end this very night
If I live, Christ will be my Light!

Fear not, Believer, our end is assured!
The disease of sin is finally cured
The storms are a gentle breeze
For believers on their knees
AMEN

About this poem

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, Philippians 1:21-25
