Skin

Antonio Darwich 2006 (Staten Island, NY)

Get out, damn you. Get out from under my skin

No matter how hard I scrub she's still there. How did she get in?

Through my doors and defenses, were my walls that thin?

God damn it! get out of my head!

Get out from the place in my psyche where you've made your bed.

Yes for Christs sake, GET OUT OF MY THOUGHTS.

get out from nooks and crevices in which you are caught.

Get out from my memories, but not the ones where we fought.

Because I want to hate you after what you’ve done,

All the yelling and screaming, I just want to run

Run away from your memory and the plans we made

Away from the house we never built and kids we named

Yet when I think of you I don't hate you,

I just imagine the places we never went, things we never got to do-

I'm glad you're still doing them though, even  if it is with him,

I'm happy that you're happy, but can you please get out from under my skin?
