Teachable Times

Live we do,
To admit or refuse the proof to excuse it.
These times to find needing to define,
Does not take...
Rhythm to rhyme poetic lines.
Nor abstract prose,
For anyone conscious.
Awakening from an overdose,
Of fiction to delude and deny...
A smothering to cover up reality,
Offers nothing...
That treats, mends or cures,
Mental illness.

And yet,
In these times we accept and expect...
Scientists to create an effective way,
To introduce new medications.
Marketed to sell to the ones,
Remaining to stay sane.
Hoping with undying faith,
These teachable times we find today.
Have at least more than just a few,
Identified as mentally credible enough...
Tested and knowledgeable to pass,
What they teach others to learn...
Will be recognized as beneficial.
By those giving the answers,
To a multiple choice test.
They failed themselves.

But...
Took years to teach,
The value of what it takes faking reality.
To gullible truth seeking students.
Searching the sky.
With motivating eyes full of desperation.
When asked to pretend,
Not to know the difference lieing makes!

'How was that?
Was I better?'

'Hmmm...well...
Too overly dramatic.
Remember,
You are not Scarlett O'Hara.
Try...
Just a touch of Clark Gable.
Your on again, off again sexual preference,
Today?
No one cares.
This is not an adaptation,
Of 'Gone With The Wind'.
Living to lie takes total commitment.
Now...
I want you to lie.
However,
Convince me you are telling the truth!'

'That, to me, makes absolutely no sense!'

'Here.
Take this $20.
Sniff it.
Rub it across your face.
Notice the difference?
Now..
Convince me you deserve this $20.
And I'll let you know if you've earned it!'
