The Currency Of Love

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

The Currency Of Love

The currency of love is care
Exchanged between us
When a need is recognized
And receives benevolence
Real and tangible
Seen and felt
Touching a soul
Making a life matter.

Generosity is a necessity
Given as abundance
Regardless of resources
It is an act of the heart
A hand reaching out
An ear who listens
A voice speaking out
A willingness to help.

Love is not a convenience
It is sharing with no conditions
A commodity to spend
Whose value lies in doing
Words are wheels
Able to express
But the currency of love is
Meant to be paid between us.
