Do I Dare Love You?
Do I Dare Love You?
Do I dare love you?
Yes I say dare because
It is not fear that separates us
Nor is it distance
The unknown existence of
You and I together
Joined in an embrace of
Eyes, lips, bodies and souls
Apart before time
Measures us so close
We could feel the universe
Everywhere all at once
Within our beating hearts.
Do I dare love you?
Gaze with very open eyes
All of you in splendor
The total sum of your life
Your laughter and tears
Your fears and dreams
And everything in between
As an equation my mere presence
Could ever complement
Or even hope to equal?
In silence I pray
Heaven grant me you
So my breathing is easier.
All I ask of life, love and joy
Abides in your feminine form
And your original magic
Where I long for
Safe harbor and many returns
Where my vessel
Weighs for hopeful anchor
Your long lost sailor
Coming home
So I might decorate you
In jewels and treasure
And share this adventure
For a lifetime of yes, I love you.
