A road not taken

Shrishti Gupta 2003 (Kolkata)

TWO ROADS DIVERGED IN A YELLOW WOOD
NOT KNOWING THE CONSEQUENCES
AND BEING SORRY FOR THE OTHER,  ONE TRAVELLER
THEREFORE STOOD.
REASONS WERE MANY AND FACTS WERE KNOWN,
THE BEAUTIFUL AND LOVABLE SOULS
PRAYED FOR EACH OTHER'S HAPPINESS, WHILE
THEIR SACRIFICING HEARTS HAD BLOWN.
THEY LOOKED INTO THE EYES
AND THE LOVE WAS FELT,
BUT THE SITUATION WAS NOT SUCH, WHERE
EVERYTHING COULD BE DEALT.
ONE FAKED IN SHOWCASING ITS TRUE LOVE
AND THE OTHER DIDN'T MISS TO BELIEVE THE
PRETENTIOUS GESTURES,
WHILE THE OTHERS BELIEVED THAT IT WAS JUST THE BOND
BUT THE TRUTH WAS TOLD THROUGH THE EYE-CONIC
PICTURES.
ONE WAS SCARED AND THE OTHER BOLD,
IT DIDN'T MATTER TO ONE, BUT
FEARED THE OTHER OF ALL THE THINGS UNTOLD.
YES, THE REALITY HAD A BLOW
WHILE THE TRAVELLERS MET THE DIMMING GLOW.
NOW THE ROAD WAS EMPTY, THEY HAD THEIR CHOICES,
AND THE STORY REMAINED UNTOLD,
BUT THE GRATEFUL HEARTS OF THE TRAVELLERS
BURIED ALL THE PAIN WITHIN
AS THEY BELIEVED IN THEIR TRUSTED BOND THAT WAS AS
PURE AS GOLD..

About this poem

This poem talks about two lovers who were somehow forced due to various things to go on separate ways, so as to let each other's happiness survive. Their love was great enough that led them to pray for each other's happiness, even from a distance.
