Braveheart

Vultures circling in the air,
Seems death is near for someone fit
I bang my sword on my shield and cry
At least I am heroic today
If not tomorrow,
Death isn’t when the heart stops
it’s when you feel you’re robbed of it
And it leaves you with some choices.
So that’s when I charged into battle
And fate said my odds we’re scary
And I marched on like a narcissist
Not because I don’t value life
But because I do.

My first poem I read was by Khalil Gibran-Defeat and at the time I remember sympathizing with the poem being though I'm this 17 year old kid who’s overweight with no since of purpose or direction and a lot of anger. Constantly I felt complacent heading nowhere, now I’ve currently lost about 50 lbs and gained it all back in discipline with a new since of purpose and direction along with it. more…
