Peace at last

A cold dark cloud comes to envelop me .
I wonder, has the time finally come
when the sun ceases to exist
and I'll see the colors of life no more ?
There's a pounding .
It's the blood rushing to my head .
Their faces stare like vultures .
It's for my death they wait .
So careless in the dim.
My body trembles as I breathe .
The night gathers ' round .
The pain is so sharp
and, the noise a constant buzz .
A blinding light torments me .
My head about to burst .
Ah. . . silence.
No pain, no noise, no vultures
Just PEACE AT LAST.

Eternal life is not on earth, but in Heaven. I think of this poem as a stepping stone from a earthly death to a celestial life which cannot be seen but promised by our Lord and Savior upon acceptance of Him.
