As Cool As Music
You are lost within these fine fluttered dreams,
casually tossed and turned in fragrant scenes,
once, you meant forever to this sweet smile,
but now you're a ghost over time's sundial,
back then the world was as cool as music,
reality; a wonderful classic -
once, we danced in each other's soft profile,
but now we're apart, living in exile.
O' fashionable sin why do you ache
in this heart that shakes so much it might break?
I thought that I knew all the rights and wrongs,
but here in dark sorrow I learn new songs.
Freedom is naught but a simple idea
which waves temptation's rippled fan so dear,
to be caught by love's bright elegant frowns,
I'd whisper and whimper until sundown,
once, you meant forever to this sweet smile,
but now you're a ghost over time's sundial,
once, we danced in each other's soft profile,
but now we're apart, living in exile.
Can you not see that your freedom is lost?
Emotions are but shadows of a former self,
you're so involved with the pleasure of others
that you forget to be real to yourself.
This anguished passion is a road to nowhere,
I just watch the scenery blur, it's a blur, a crazy blur.
And I realise that truth is laughing at me,
I am everything they despise and so much more.
I'll twist inside out if I make it to Heaven's hell,
can you not see that your freedom is lost?
Your petty excuses won't help when you're dead,
don't open wounds within the spirit's flaps.
Life's curved language spits shivers as you soar.
All I could see were clouds for miles and miles,
when I was alive I wondered false smiles...
Back then the world was as cool as music,
reality; a wonderful classic.
