Beauty

She came to me in the darkness of night,
I caught glimpses of her from candlelight.
Her face was veiled, her shape was hidden,
I wanted to rescue her from her prison.

Why should she hide her beautiful smile,
how I longed for the world to see,
how I wished to share her beauty,
as all of lifes beauty should be.

Did God make a rose to be hidden from view,
did he state a religion of Islam or Jew.
I wonder does the carnation, lead us to salvation,
I wonder if a dove leads us to true love.

I cry, that religion comes between us,
spreading hostility instead of love,
preaching war instead of peace,
Beauty is found to all who seek.
