Bridled Heart
You've placed a bridle around my heart
you lead it as a slave
it obeys willingly
betraying my mind
enticed so easily
you blow down my inhibitions with the force of a hurricane
how can I deny you?
The more I try to resist
the more I realize my efforts are futile
You reel me in with words unspoken
reluctantly I submit to your commands
If you lead me to uncharted territory
will I go with you, unafraid
or will I stand my ground
will I swim with you in troubled waters
or will I regain control of my senses
only time will tell just how strong you are
this power you have over me is frightening
you scoff at my reasoning
make light of my boundaries
but I refuse to open Pandora's box
you may lead me to water
but you will NOT make me drink
I will not sip of the cup of eternal regret
nor feed on the bread of sorrowful shame
your influence is strong but there is one that is stronger
it lives inside of me and ignites my spirit
it is immune to your attacks oh valiant one
firm in its resolve it stands defiantly
like a city fortified
you may be Samson, but I know your secret
your repeated attempts at invading my kingdom
only reveal more of your own vulnerabilities
take caution dear warrior
or when you least expect it
the hunter may become the hunted
but for now I sit
captive to your affection
entangled in your lasso of love
enamored with your intentions
You've placed a bridle around my heart
you lead it as a slave
