Goddess of Love
In the Hesiod Theogony,
She's claimed to have sprung from the sea's foam,
However Homer truly believes,
The daughter born of Zeus and Dione.
With Eros often in company,
Her grace, wit, charm, and prominent pride,
Known for ruling the hearts of many,
Her influence at times on the tide.
Plan of Dionysos, drunk off wine,
Release his mother from the throne tied,
A promised Queen forever divine,
Pretty bride forced to Hephaistos side.
Persistent passions purely prevail,
Historic love affair with Ares,
Her story of this complete betrayal,
Both later chained unexpectedly.
Is this a blessing or curse I see?
Her bold beauty in her strong, swift stride.
Was this not what she was made to be?
Have others not too betrothed and lied?
At times I've pitied Aphrodite,
Who surely suffers with all her love,
Her golden apple bestowed in me,
As she, I too embody the dove.
