Just A Cigarette
Enjoying the taste at the beginning for fun
But feeling bitter and burned when everything is done
Obligated to feed our addiction, we inhale to the end
And exhale when we figure out... we're dead
Love replaced with hate, no longer lovers or friends
Only left to repeat the words like death in our chest
This relationship has cancer
Rotting the bond deep in our cores with no real answer
Looking for one thing, something to kill this
Thousand mile an hour stillness
The days have flown as fast as you did
Crippling this giant to a black and blue kid
An unreliant tongue lashing out at those who care
Trying to keep crowd control of the emotions trampling under my hair
You're evil to the people who receive you for who you are
We'll see who'll keep you when your teeth seep through and they see you for who you are
A tyrant with peasants, an abductor with presents
A taker among givers, a shark in a river
A molester with kids
Unsuspecting of whose presence they're in
You're the chaos in peace, the meaning of unfaithful
As manipulative as the devil preying on angels
Violent in my thoughts but quiet in my actions
Receptive of my passions and reactive to my flaws
Victim of your plots and unseen as a phantom
Serving pain in rations as you tie my guts into knots
So just be that cold hard shoulder
Make me realize the years gone by and you never got older
But you go and tower on your high horse as you show no remorse
Draw out your true worst as it creeps through your pores
And you hide your joy as you say " this is for the best"
And stutter in silence when i ask "yea but at whose expense?"
This loss of control will leave me here in bed
Till I decide to get up and light another cigarette.
