Passing the Present
Jonathan Walker 1977 (South Africa)
Welcome to the darkness that is poetry
Take the clouds and paint them black
But don't forget your silver lining
The present is passing
We may be Christian
But we have a new religion
Pluralism
Hail the post-modern
Post-enlightened
Anti-Platonist
We have a new weapon
Intellect
Hail every credibly path
That leads to the truth
Hail post-mono/polytheism
Where God is Spirit and Spirit cannot be contained
Where our archaic tools of science and reason
Can no longer interpret the Divine
We have a new defense
Human rights
I am therefore I think
I breathe therefore I speak
I exist in your face
Indisputable, undeniable, relentless
Welcome to the future
The present has past
