Poetry Workshop

Today it was, for one and all,
A poetry workshop, where words doth fall,

Sculptures so lifelike they look at you,
Study them carefully take in each view,
Watch the eyes no matter where you stand,
Observe the pores and nails on the hand,

Hair so natural on head and elsewhere,
Amazing the detail we eagerly can share.
Enter each room then stop and think,
This is fantastic then don't even blink.

Videos that're played show how its done,
Piece by piece every single one,
Meticulous the detail accurate and sweet,
Naked and unashamed from head to feet.

Proportions were maintained regardless of size,
Men and women were all a surprise,
That pregnant woman massive in every way,
Incredible that work that's all I can say.

The wild man he matched as well,
Viewing him casually there's much to tell,
He eyes caught people in the room,
Leaving him behind was all too soon.

Then that lady resting in bed,
Knees held high with eyes slightly red,
As I noted her features and face,
She manifested life and it I could trace.

Sitting there solo in a craft small,
Naked and forlorn the sadest of all,
What and where no oars in sight,
Shipwrecked and lost such a pitiful plight.

Two old ladies from a time gone by,
Attracted the attention of others and I,
Dressed and concerned worried they be,
Something quite different part of history.

And a grandmother curled up in bed,
Was she alive or perhaps even dead?
Wrapped up tight with head held low,
Who's to say did she come or go?

Other fine exhibits including a males head,
Food for thought the brain is fed,
Features were excellent detailed and neat,
Impossible to improve or attempt to beat.

Yes Ron Mueck created works of art,
He and others willingly took part,
Famed and special they're of a kind,
Skill and dedication so delicately refined.
DATA ABOUT THIS POEM;-
We visited a sculpture exhibition some years ago
in Christchurch and the works were that life-like
it was incredible. I felt it was worthy of recording
for posterity hence the poem.

Those who seek, to improve their hand,
Search with vision and try to understand.
The many types, of verse we see,
What is suitable for you or me?
There are variations, in style and thought,
Ways to record, the moments you've caught.
Although I seek a chance to share,
It's my personality,I wish to declare!
Using the imagination, there're words I find,
Special and unique ,to the characters defined!
With peripheral sight, the expanse is great,
Grab the pen, I can hardly wait,
Two starting lines, they open the door,
Then the tide, really sweeps the floor.
Poetry and rhymes ,how beautiful they be,
The flows natural, you wait and see,
Like a song, with words so sweet,
Immerse the soul ,in this fruitful retreat

I have been writing poems for forty years and written about all sorts of things. Somehow I get creating streaks and can write up to 4 or 5 poems at once of varying subjects. I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
