Poets and the Figures of Speech

Poets have ways with words,
Dominate them like Ladies and Lords;
They use exaggerations of hyperbole,
Or address a thing an abstraction with apostrophe.

Some would play sounds alike with alliteration,
Others would prefer personification,
Or have indirect reference to art with allusion,
Or have emotional response with exclamation.

At times they compare by simile,
Or convey opposite meanings with irony;
And so, they indeed have ways with words
And dominate them like Ladies and Lords.

I am a Registered Civil Engineer as well as a Lawyer. But in my most humblest estate, I recognize myself as a channel of POETRY to the world. Grateful as a child I am, for in so many times this kind of art emitted to this world, passing through my senses. How lucky I am. Here in this community, we all are. =) more…
