The Milk of Heaven

I had a feeling . . .
When the beacon of self revelation
Prayed through me
Like a sea change in winter
I had a feeling . . . all along . . .
That the derisive grin of calamity
Would not take me
Shake me like a toy
Lay me on my cooling board
I had that feeling . . .
Up and down this walled city
Or laying wrapped in whispers
I felt, in the end
My progeny would smile back at me
I felt that the arms of something fine
On wings of beaten gold
Would find there way to me
Wrap themselves around me and feed me
Mouth to mouth the Milk of Heaven
That feeling it came over me
