Tidal Waves

The sight from the shore is something like a shadow
For it only stays in place as long as one wants it to

Its residuum as hard to point out as the grains of sand
And water the only meter of what's left but also gone

Love shall come from the water
But in the end must so return

The ocean is unforgiving in the eyes of the narcissist
But living by the tide has a price we all know

Waves will pull the same regardless of who swims
And a calm before the storm is the cruelest metaphor

Sometimes the ship never comes
But sometimes we are the ship
