Poverty

Modern sibanda 1992 (Masvingo)

POVERTY
In this month of May.
Life is getting tougher by the day.
It doesn't matter it's pay day.
Nothing is going to  be okay.
Poverty is standing on my way.
I don't even have a say.
My rentals I can't even pay.
I'm thinking of going away.
To try and find another way.

My Children don't even know.
To school they can't go.
 My business is slow,
and profit is low.
It didn't matter I wake up at four.
Thinking by the end of the day I will have more.
 But poverty always says no.
I don't know what am I living for.

My clothes are all rags.
Some of my money goes to tax.
From work I can't even afford a taxi.
In my feet i dont even wear socks.
I can't even visit my friend Max.
Who lives in a nearby town Swazi.

My wife has lost the respect.
She thinks I waste money on sex workers.
 Every day, I'm a suspect.
I don't have money to buy speakers.
She no longer rest on my chest.
She thinks I'm one of the cheaters.
She told me she will not rest,
Until she found those evil Cheetahs.
