Helen’s Lament: Fallen Troy: Back to Greece
Here I stand and lament, Troy has Fallen, Paris is dead.
I’ll be back in the land of Greece, O’ my sadness is supreme
What of life that once I owned, why Menelaus did I chose
To steal away one night to fate myself in doom
Oh Paris no more have our souls, to die is all that’s left
Aphrodite why? Beauty I want no more, you made a war
And now my love is dead, soon shall I be too,
For Menelaus’s wrath rests not and death to me shall come
My origins unknown I can not stay in Troy that was my home
If life is true than death is too and die I shall quite soon
But all that life offered me Hades shall not I know
For in those depths when I am judged…
My loyalty to Greece will make me in Tartarus
But not with Paris my love, no for only the Greek are allowed
Die I will now, please let me go, I will not find rest in arms
Not arms of Menelaus, though strong for Paris dead.
