The hunter
Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)
The hunter soon will waken
Will rise up in all his glory
And don his robes of power,
The hunter will search out food
And before he has never failed,
The hunter was born to hunt and kill,
As his prey was born to be hunted and fed upon.
The hunter can never die
Can never be brought down by his intended quarry.
For he is too swift, too smart
Supernatural? Perhaps? Or perhaps
Only outside our understanding,
The hunter has lived for aeons
And aeons more will he live,
And in his coming, much prey will fall
For no mercy can be given.
This hunter will never die
Can never be stopped in his hunting.
Hunting out human food
Hunting for mortal trophies
Human heads to hang on his walls,
Mementoes of his greatest kills
Great fighters he defeated,
Warriors he brought down
Despite their bad reputations.
The hunter has never failed
Can never let failure stop him.
On into the frozen wastes
The hunter seeks out victims
Humans to kill and feast upon,
Never one to accept defeat
The Hunter won't be stopped,
As he hunts for food and glory
By besting all he encounters.
The hunter can never die
Can never be brought down by his intended quarry.
