Quietus

By Ellis Einhorn

I reminisce on life, reckoning its value.

On the darkest of nights, I contemplate a thought,

If all perish, why is life worth living?

Would I rather depart youthful or elderly?

The restive corpse lay, insufferable throbbing thoughts.

What demise could leave mine own eyes at ease?
