The Door

Today passes quick and quicker,

And the dusk before us is thick and thicker,

And the path we tread is ever slicker,

Yet we’ll find the door.

Though the path is steep and steeper,

And the pain lies deep and deeper,

And a curse is brought for sleep and sleeper,

Yet we’ll find the door.

Though fear attacks with fell abandon,

And like deer were hunted by abadon,

And the hearts of our brothers are quick to sadden,

Yet we’ll find the door.

Though our bodies are by toil broken,

And for a thousand years we travail without token,

And to stone ears alone yet have we spoken,

Yet we’ll find the door.

That dearly most our hearts long for.
