About this poem

Let us all as “We the People,” Republican, Democrat, and Independent, hail with pride and in good faith, the confirmation of the first black woman to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) of America, the Honorable Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. May Lady Justice dry the bitter tears she has shed for far too long, and for far too many centuries, laboring to remove the shackles of slavery, laboring diligently at the great experimentation towards the task of fashioning a democracy in her Republic to make America, inch by inch, feet by feet, yard by yard, mile after mule, become a more perfect Union. One small step for equity. One giant step for all women.
