Analysis of City Sounds

Here.
Near.
Close.
Far.
Into the night, how far id drive
Away from the lights
Camera.
Action.
Away from the sounds of shuffling feet
It’s hard to meet
The ends of the street
with out stopping

Now I’d be wrong to say the city never sleeps
But
I see things,
Things I’m not happy about
And oh how they make me want to shout

But I’ll scream to the top of my lungs
Cheeks red and I could full on plunge
To the ground
But the city sounds
Warp around
The little things

Things that make us human
A call on the phone
Or the hissing of a drone
Is heard by one and not by many

Here.
Near.
Close.
Far.
I cannot look up to the stars

The buildings take up the space

Space to breathe
Space to live
Spaces to be human is all but filled
By the city sounds
When no one is around,
How will the city sound?

About this poem

This poem is something I wrote about living in the city. It gets draining very often with everything and everyone buzzing around like hapless bumblebees. No matter where I go in the city everyone is so consumed with the media and materialistic things, but in the end; how will the city sound when there is no one left around?

I am a 18 year old college student. I find peace in my hectic life by writing and singing. My friends pushed me to start submitting my pieces into contest because they say I have talent. I thank them dearly for opening my eyes and helping me see that my talent should be shared. Art is art, no matter how you interpret it; it will always be interpreted differently by everyone. more…
