Analysis of Taken

Taken 1964 (Newfoundland)

——————Taken——————
Memories forgotten, all gone so soon
As darkness approaches mid afternoon
Not recognizing family so near and dear
Now being confused with that look of fear

She’s talking about loved ones, now long gone
Conversation is the same, like a repeat song
Emergent frustration, unsure and doubt
And when speaking, her thoughts will not come out

We talk and I think, you’re still the same to me
Then from nowhere I know it’ll never be
Sundowning emerges as shadows appear
When I speak, all I get is that blank stare

Looking back, it is now easy to see
We tried to deny it, I know it was just me
She is still there, we won’t let go
But we lost her so many years ago
