Analysis of Ode to Coco
Debbie Ebersole 1968 (Pennsylvania)
Ode to Coco
Once when I was young,
We got a little pup.
She showed us all her love.
We vowed never to give her up.
She was the family protector,
The guardian of our lives.
Noone who came through the door,
Could escape her watching eyes.
Ever present and always there
To protect her family's home.
And she was always by your side
With never a notion to roam.
Well many years have passed since then
And her body has grown old
But she still does her very best
Not to let it show.
And when the time arrives
That she will go away,
For all of those who knew her
It will be a sad, sad day
But I know deep within my heart
That she'll never really leave
She'll be watching over all of us
And that's what I believe
