Analysis of XXVI - Je rêve, tant Paris...
Je rêve, tant Paris m'est parfois un enfer,
D'une ville très calme et sans chemin de fer,
Où, chez le sous-préfet, en vieux garçon affable,
Je lirais, au dessert, mon épître ou ma fable.
On se dirait tout bas, comme un mignon péché,
Un quatrain très mordant que j'aurais décoché.
Là, je conserverais de vagues hypothèques.
On voudrait mon avis pour les bibliothèques;
Et j'y rétablirais, disciple consolé,
Nos maîtres, Esménard, Lebrun, Chênedollé.
