Brown Boy

Brown Boy, I deeply apologize for the sins of our mothers and fathers.

Please accept my humblest apologies for the ignorance they spew.

Brown Boy, please know that you are loved when your family doesn’t.

My generation is supposed to raise kings and queens but right now it seems that a lot of your generation has taken that goal to the next level.

Levels of which I don’t quite understand.

Brown Boy, you are our future and you are our path to getting out of the supposed ghetto that these older people keep us in.

Fight like hell boy and keep us from the nonsense that is the world.

Brown Boy, I see your worth and I know you cry out in pain. I’m here for you.
Sometimes we all forget that our young men and women need nurturing and guidance.

Willful ignorance will never get us anywhere and until the African-American community sees this, well, we’ll be doomed to the same fate every single time.
