A TAXING TIME

We pay taxes on our houses
Pay taxes for our lawns;
Pay taxes till our deaths
Since the day that we were born.

We pay taxes for our water
Pay taxes for the parks;
We pay taxes for the daytime
And taxes on the dark.

We pay taxes for our banking
Pay tax upon our air;
We pay tax upon our clothing
And on the length of our hair.

We pay taxes on our taxes
Pay taxes upon our rates;
We pay taxes on our interest
And on our Tax rebates.

We pay taxes for our fingers
For our knees, our legs, our toes;
We pay taxes for our foreheads
For our eyes, our ears, our nose.

We pay taxes on our injuries
Our gout, gall stones, and hernia;
We pay taxes on our blood
In Jeff Kennett’s Victoria.
