Because We Love

What can we do
when all is ashes & tears?
Where can we go
when the fires & floods
carry away
what once was solid?
Worry not
we are told by prophets of old,
they chant the same words
over & over,
but still we cry
in sorrow
as life slips out of our fingers.
Can we see through the veil?
Can we lift our voices in song
no matter what?
Yes! Yes!
Come little one
take my hand,
there is no river too deep,
there is no land too barren,
that we can not feel
this abiding love that lives in our hearts.
When all the trees have fallen
and all the lands are still,
we live, we live
because we love.
